What should I think of now? I haven't any job, I haven't anything to look out for. The only thing that matters now is my project, my experiments. Money matters should long ago be put aside, to be at the back of my head. I should warn myself that due to this incapability of coping with stress and workload, I may not feel the need to be in the open public. To be within my own terrritory, however its impossible to do that. I still need to go out and do more and more experiments, meet the teachers, go to football match??? (Will update more on this unexpected invitation, although I have to pay the tickets myself)
I was asked by a fellow Manchunian Malaysian (student Malaysia on holiday at home in Malaysia) yesterday about life in Manchester: post bombings after the 7/7 London blasts. Has it got any impact to female muslims here? How are people coping with it? Have I experienced anything rash? It was a good question though, thanks to Baff whom had his concern over the new comers from Malaysia flying in to Manchester this coming September.
I would say that there isn't anything bad that had happened to me or to any of my friends whom I knew. Although the sentiments of "Muslim hatred" may be high, it lies deep within oneself, on the level of each individual. The only thing that we can do is be vigilant. Some friends in London invited me to come over, although I hesitated, she is quite confident that the security level and the Muslim backlash sentiments are not really obvious at her place. It is normal if the perspective of local people had changed towards Muslim, having being traumatised by the London blasts. It is their country, it is the Muslims that have be alleged to take the blame even if it is not proven yet. However, there are still those whom are really nice. I am glad to know several locals during my period of temporary working this summer. They are really nice people.
I miss home now.. there's no place like home you know. For those whom have been dreaming to go oversea (macam Chewah lah ni), don't think that it is all glamorous and clean and sophisticated. (Our Mid Valley Megamall is much more impressive as compared to their Trafford Centre, which is supposed to be the biggest shopping mall in Europe. )
